  • Wow

Made a post on this blog entry: http://thetheologianscafe.xanga.com/733518790/are-gay-people-picked-on/

I've gotten sarcasm, "you're stupid" and "...." as responses to the post that I made.

Apparently because I don't think gays are picked on more than anybody else, I'm an idiotic b**ch.

You do realize that a few years back, it was all the Hispanics that were getting crap from everyone else because "illegal immigration" was the big issue. Hispanic, and Mexican in particular, has almost become synonymous in parts of California with "illegal alien." Is it fair? No. Is it true? Yes. Do I give a damn if the truth offends you? No, not really.

As for Gays--homosexuality is a preference. A liking for Vanilla Ice Cream is a preference. Are you going to know my preference for ice cream without me telling you, or without you observing me choose Vanilla every time I am given the chance? No, not unless you're psychic.

So if you don't like the same logic being applied to homosexuals--that you can't be teased for being a homosexual unless you make it known you are one--you really should not waste your time commenting unless it is with an intelligent rebuttal, in which case I might be willing to change my mind.

The only reason people think gays are teased and bullied more often is because they are the new "next big issue." How many illegal immigrant stories did you year this morning? Two years ago it would have been five times as many. They highlight what they think people are interested in knowing. There is no way they would have time to highlight EVERY act of prejudice and EVERY act of discrimination. So they pick and they chose based on what people are getting fired up over recently. =/ it gives it the illusion of being a bigger issue than it is...which is what many people LIKE because if we think it's a bigger issue, more gets done to change it.

Now, please understand, I'm not saying "Well, sh*t, they came out of the closet I guess that means they are fair game!" NO. That is not where I am going with this. It is NEVER acceptable to belittle someone because they are different than you...but I'm also not going to show someone pity if they took steps to reveal something about themselves KNOWING it would cause adversity. More power to you for being brave, but don't expect the world to be nicer to you because of your courage. It won't be.

The recent story in the news is a slightly special case, where he was secretly video-taped, and I am aware of that, which is why I was addressing homosexuals in a general sense. Not the "WELL, BUT, THIS ONE EXCEPTION--" save it. There are exceptions to every rule, I don't give a damn about the ONE you heard about.

  • How?

How do you tell a person you love that they have something terribly wrong with their psyche?

How do you tell a person you love that you're not too sure you want to know them anymore?

How do you tell a person you love, that they can go crawl in a ditch and die, and you won't cry?

How can you tell a person you love that their very breath causes you strife?

How can you tell a person you love that you wish they could spend a day with themselves in hell?

How can you tell a person you love that they don't have a chance in this world?

How could I tell a person I love, 'you don't got a friend in me' no more?

How could I tell a person I love, 'you don't have any real friends?'

How could I tell a person I love, 'I've hated you for a while now?'

How do you tell a person you love that you don't love them anymore?

  • What Happened...

To believing bullies were just jealous...

To being beautiful no matter who you are...

    To unconditional love...

    To practicing what you preach...

    To Ohana...

    To the innocence of children...

    To the wisdom of adults...

To the monsters in the closet that taught us to be brave...

To satire being clever instead of just complaining...

    To people who cared...

    To understanding...

    To community...

To a little faith, trust, and pixie dust...

To thinking the idea of living in a bubble was suicide...

To recognizing loss of life as homicide...

To looking up and letting go...

To admitting there are things we're never meant to know.

  • Don't work with family

    -sigh-

Lord knows I love my Daddy...but sometimes I don't know WHAT HE'S THINKING. I currently work for him while I'm trying to get selling art up off the ground. =/ He's the store manager where I work. (how else are we supposed to get jobs these days? CONNECTIONS, PEOPLE.)

But yeah. He was supposed to pick me up at 7am so we could go in and work. =] Takes about an hour to get there, so an 8am-4pm or maybe 5pm shift isn't too bad, right? Not eight hours, but not too bad. Most of the time I get 5-6 hour shifts four days a week.

    7:30am

    8:00am

    8:30am

8:56am -- I am tired of texting him and getting no response, so I call him.

    "You okay, Dad?"

    "No."

    "....you sick?"

"I don't know. I didn't get any sleep last night. I had a really bad night."

"......so are you going in today?"  Obviously I am expecting a no.

    "No. Sorry."

    "It's okay...hope you feel better."

=/ THANKS FOR THE HEADS-UP, BRAH. And his wife. Uhm. Didn't it strike you as odd your husband has not left yet? Thanks for the phone call. Aren't YOU the one that writes his schedule for him? YOU'RE the one that told me he was going to pick me up. -.- way to pay attention, wifu.

Anyways. This is a common occurrence...we get along great, my Dad and I. I love him to PIECES. =/ But, as my title suggests, don't work with family....'cause let's be honest. Is a goody two shoes like me going to give her Daddy a piece of her mind? Nope. I'm going to sit there, take it quietly, and fume until something triggers a frustrated explosion...for which I will apologize, even though it was instigated by someone else's mistakes.

    OHASLGJL;AKSJDFL;JS.

Oh well. I guess I should be working on my drawings for the craft show this weekend. Need to have an inventory to sell anything, correct?

  • Help a Starving Artist

Okay, so I'm not actually a starving artist.

XD but I plan to support myself selling art.

So if you are interested in seeing what I have, please visit www.Tilagree.deviantart.com

I do custom work, and I sell prints of those pictured on the website. =] Everything comes matted and in its own plastic sleeve, complete with a business card in case you want to contact me again, or pass it along to someone else.

If you don't want anything, but know someone who might, please pass the link around.

    Thanks!
